Steven H. House

Steve, born on the Pine Ridge Ogallala Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota, served as an MP in Vietnam from 1968-70, later receiving a Bachelor of Science from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He worked for years as a Correctional Counselor, an Employment Coordinator and Director of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Unit with the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs. Her serves as a member of the National Board of Directors of Vietnam Veterans of America being regional Director over eight states. He led the drive to establish one of the first Veterans Courts in America in Waupaca County, Wisconsin. He’s made over 10 trips back to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia on humanitarian missions for Children’s Library International all at his own personal expense. Further Steve instituted a special program for recognition of Native American Veterans’ sacrifices in the Vietnam War for the 11 tribes of the State of Wisconsin. “Swords to Wheelchairs” is yet another initiative Steve has founded by securing support from the Vietnam Veterans of America, delivering wheelchairs to disabled vets from both sides of the war in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
